In addition, the Stirling Albion WF group recently handed over a cheque for £820 to Parkinson’s UK Scotland, raised through various fundraising activities.

Townhead Strollers Support Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland 💙

Townhead Strollers Walking Football Club have been busy fundraising once again, proudly supporting Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) with a fantastic donation of £570!

Over the past few weeks, Pele the Panda was out and about around Townhead CSH with his trusty collection tins 🐼. Players and supporters also enjoyed some delicious homemade tablet and the club wrapped things up with a fun-filled Halloween “Kick or Treat” session complete with football, laughter, and plenty of community spirit! 🎃⚽

CHSS is Scotland’s largest health charity, helping people living with chest, heart, and stroke conditions to live life to the fullest. Their amazing team of nurses, support workers, and volunteers ensure no one has to recover alone.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, and special recognition goes to Derek King for his dedication and organisation. 👏💙

A brilliant initiative from a fantastic group — well done to everyone who took part and helped raise such an impressive total for a great cause!

Friendly Action and Regional Connections 🤝

A win on the final day could complete an impressive league double, as Braehead also lead the way in the O50’s Premiership. It’s been a dominant campaign across both age groups, but with so much quality on display, they’ll know that anything can still happen.

In the Women’s O40’s Championship, this year’s newcomers Tay City Strollers have enjoyed a superb debut season. Sitting top of the table, they have the chance to secure promotion and wrap up the title with just a couple of wins on the final day.

We wish all teams the very best of luck for the final day of the season!

Arthur Duncan Award 2025

𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐑 𝐃𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐔𝐀𝐋 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐃 2025

’𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅’

Arthur Duncan became involved in walking football in 2015 when the Healthy Hearts Club at Stirling Sports Village laid the foundations for a new group. From his very first session, Arthur became a passionate advocate for walking football, recognising its value in fostering social connection, wellbeing, and camaraderie among participants.

A talented graphic artist, Arthur made an enormous creative contribution to Walking Football Scotland (WFS). Together with former Chair Gary McLaughlin, he designed the iconic WFS logo, later assigning full copyright to the organisation. Arthur’s creative touch extended far beyond the logo, as he regularly produced leaflets, programmes, and strip graphics that helped promote the sport across Scotland.

While his local work was prolific, it is the WFS logo — inspired by his beloved Saltire — that stands as his most enduring legacy, symbolising his lasting impact on walking football in Scotland.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution, Walking Football Scotland established the Arthur Duncan Memorial Award in 2022. The inaugural recipient was Mags Muir of Carnoustie Panmure, followed by Colin Craig of Drumchapel United in 2023 and then Billy Brown of Edinburgh City last year.

We now invite member club and regional representatives to submit nominations for the 2025 Arthur Duncan Memorial Award. Nominations should be no more than 200 words and explain why the nominee deserves this recognition for their exceptional contribution to walking football and their local community. (Please note - only one nomination should be submitted for their nomination, per club)

WFS O70's West Premiership

The WFS O70’s West Premiership reaches its conclusion on Friday 7th November at the Toryglen Regional Football Centre, and the stage is set for what could be a thrilling end to the season.

Duncanrig EK currently lead the table with one hand on the trophy, and they’ll have the perfect opportunity to seal the championship in their opening match against second-placed Townhead Strollers. A victory in that clash would confirm Duncanrig EK as champions, capping off an outstanding first league campaign.

However, with three games in hand still to play across the field, there’s potential for plenty of movement in the standings before the day is done. Townhead Strollers and Ayr United, who occupy the other Champions League qualification spots, will both be determined to finish strongly – and with every goal and point crucial, a late twist in the tale can’t be ruled out.

Chasing them are Townhead Strollers and Ayr United, who currently occupy the other Champions League qualification spots. Both sides will be eager to finish strongly and put pressure on the leaders – and with every game still capable of reshaping the standings, a late twist in the tale can’t be ruled out.

It promises to be an exciting finale at Toryglen, with pride, silverware, and Champions League places all at stake.

We wish all teams the very best of luck for the final day!

Player of the Month (October) - Anne Bain & William Wilson

We’re keeping up with our monthly spotlight on Walking Football Scotland Players of the Month in partnership with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

For October the Walking Football Scotland Women’s Player of the Month is Anne Bain! Anne, 63, plays with Midlothian Ladies.

Walking Football Scotland Men’s Player of the Month is William Wilson! William, 78, plays with Townhead Strollers.

Congratulations Anne and William! They shared their reflections on what walking football means to them.

Why did you get involved in walking football?

Anne: “I got into walking football because I love team sports and played 20 aside with my brothers when I was younger”

William: “I wanted to get back into a sport I enjoyed when I was younger and always kept my football boots handy, as you just never say never.”

What positive impact has walking football had on your life?

Anne: “Walking football has helped me get much fitter and healthier - I had a health scare 12 years ago (TIA) and I was put on blood pressure tablets ,statins and blood thinners. Since doing regular training I have managed to reduce my dosage and feel much fitter because of walking football.”

William: “Mixing with new people with same interest and enjoying the banter is what it’s all about. Walking Football increases my social interaction, keeps me fit and active. Two years ago my granddaughter aged 6 started playing football and there was I at 76, still playing too at my favourite place, Cumnock.

What would you say to encourage others to come along?

Anne: “I would and do encourage others to come along. Everyone is very welcoming and encouraging and the social side after games and training is a plus. We go walks, away for tournaments abroad , celebrate holidays and high days....and most of all we support and encourage each other.”

William: “Come along and give it a go! The companionship and social side with a friendly group is brilliant!”
