WFS O70's Men's West Premiership

The WFS O70’s Men’s West Premiership recommenced today at Toryglen Regional Football Centre, as clubs returned from the summer break to begin the second half of the 2026 competitive season.

League leaders Duncanrig EK started the day with a two-point advantage in the title race and, after another strong round of fixtures, they remain two points clear at the top. With several important fixtures still to come, the race for the Premiership title is set up perfectly for an exciting finish.

A big thank you to all players, clubs, referees and Regional League Co-ordinator Derek King for another excellent day of walking football as the competitive season got back underway at Toryglen. ⚽👏

A New Chapter Begins for Parkinson's Walking Football in Scotland

Walking Football Scotland is delighted to announce the launch of our first-ever WFS Parkinson's Regional Teams, marking another major milestone in the continued growth of Parkinson's walking football across the country.

Over the past few years, Parkinson's walking football has transformed the lives of hundreds of people across Scotland. What started with a handful of sessions has grown into a thriving national network of clubs and groups, helping people living with Parkinson's stay active, improve their wellbeing, build friendships and continue enjoying the game they love.

Now, we're taking the next exciting step.

  • Organise training sessions and representative fixtures.

  • Prepare their squad for two annual WFS Parkinson's Regional Events.

  • Build relationships with Parkinson's walking football groups across their region.

  • Support players in enjoying a safe, inclusive and rewarding representative experience.

More Than Football

Walking Football Scotland believes that football has the power to improve lives.

Our Parkinson's programme continues to demonstrate the physical, mental and social benefits that regular activity can bring, while creating opportunities for people to reconnect with sport, build confidence and become part of a supportive community.

Player of the Month (July) - Dave Milne & Paula McArthur

As July comes to an end, we’re proud to once again shine a spotlight on the people who make Walking Football Scotland’s Players of the Month so special—once again in partnership with Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

🌟 July Women’s Player of the Month
Paula McArthur (55) – Rangers FFIT

🌟 July Men’s Player of the Month
Dave Milne (66)– Arbroath FC

Huge congratulations to Paula and Dave!

Both shared their reflections on what walking football means to them, highlighting the friendships, health benefits and sense of belonging that keep our community moving forward 💙⚽

Why did you get involved in walking football?

Paula: “I was introduced to walking football following taking part in a football fans in training course held at Ibrox. If I am honest I was sceptical initially, as I had played football up to international level, giving the game up when I was approx. 38 years old & thought my playing days where over. Little did I know I got hooked from the start!”

Dave: “One evening in August 2016, I met a friend of mine in the local turf accountants. I asked him where he had been and he said to me he had been playing walking football. He suggested that I should come along to the next session as he was sure I would enjoy it! That was an understatement! I hadn’t played football for around 20 years in any format & from the first step onto the pitch I was hooked!”

What positive impact has walking football had on your life?

Paula: “Walking football has supported me to improve my Physical, Emotional, General & Mental Health and wellbeing. Its also good for a healthy heart as I am getting on a bit. It has been good for me socially, out playing 2-3 nights a week, I have a new circle of friends and acquaintances whom I would not necessarily have came in contact with through my day to day life.”

Dave: “Over the years, on and off the field, I have built up great friendships with fantastic men & women who share my passion for walking football. In 2018 I experienced my first trip abroad in 30 years when my club sent a team to Cambrils Spain to take part in the Walking Football Tours – Spanish Masters, where we finished runners up. 2 subsequent trips - 2019 to Lake Garda & 2024 back to Cambrils were also enjoyed, catching up with opponents & referees from 2018! Also, for a bit of fun, I have taken the opportunity to aim for, reach & beat one of my footballing hero’s total career goal tally! In 1970 I first set sight on Edson Arantes do Nascimento (Pele) in the 1970 World Cup. Between December 2016 to date, I have kept a record of the goals I have scored playing walking football (club sessions & competitive matches) & on the 12th July 2026 I broke Pele’s world record goal tally at the John Cunningham Memorial Festival held at Stark’s Park Kirkcaldy. 7 goals that day took me to 1280 goals! LOL! I am also Club Secretary & Treasurer of Arbroath FC Walking Football Club & a Walking Football Scotland Rep, that gives me the opportunity to pay back in some small way for the enjoyment walking football has given me over the past 10 years.”

What would you say to encourage others to come along?

Paula: “Please come along and give it a try, I am sure you would love it! You don’t need to have played football before - it’s not just football!”

Dave: “What would you say to encourage others to come along? Until you try it, you won’t know what you are missing!”

WFS O60's West Championship

The WFS Men’s O60’s West Championship returns on Friday 14th August at Toryglen Regional Football Centre as teams begin Round 3 of the 2026 season.

While the WFS Men’s O60’s West Premiership does not resume until 4th September, the Championship enjoys an additional month of fixtures, meaning clubs have another opportunity to strengthen their positions before the Premiership returns.

At the halfway stage, Ardencaple have enjoyed an impeccable campaign, recording a remarkable eight wins from eight to open up an eight-point lead over Saint Anthony's – Whites at the top of the table.

Round 3 presents another important opportunity for the league leaders. Could Ardencaple take a huge step towards securing promotion with another strong performance? Time will tell, but every point becomes increasingly valuable as the season enters its second half.

We wish all clubs, players, referees and volunteers the very best for Round 3’s fixtures and look forward to another excellent afternoon of walking football at Toryglen. ⚽👏

WFS O65's Men's East of Scotland Leagues

The WFS Men’s O65’s East of Scotland Leagues return on Wednesday 12th August at Oriam, as clubs resume the 2026 season following the summer break and begin the second half of the campaign.

In the Premiership, Alloa Athletic – Gold lead the standings by two points over Oriam 2025, but the two title contenders meet in the opening fixture of Round 3. With first place on the line, it promises to be a fascinating contest and could have a major bearing on the championship race.

The Championship is equally well poised. Hearts 98's hold a two-point advantage over Dundee East CSC, and fittingly the top two will also go head-to-head in another huge top-of-the-table clash. With valuable points at stake, both sides will be eager to strengthen their promotion ambitions.

With both divisions featuring crucial encounters between the top two teams, Round 3 promises to deliver another exciting evening of competitive walking football.

We wish all clubs, players, referees and volunteers the very best for Round 3 fixtures and look forward to another fantastic day of football at Oriam. ⚽👏

WFS O50's Men's East of Scotland Leagues

The WFS Men’s O50’s East of Scotland Leagues return on Sunday 9th August at RPC Dundee, as clubs come back from the summer break to begin the second half of the 2026 competitive season.

In the Premiership, Forfar Athletic will be looking to strengthen their position at the top of the table. They currently hold a five-point advantage over Linlithgow Rose CFC, but with plenty of football still to be played, every point will be crucial in the race for the title.

The Championship resumes with a huge top-of-the-table clash, where only goal difference separates league leaders Carnoustie Panmure and Dunfermline Dynamos. With first place on the line, this promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the day.

The Conference League is equally poised, with just three points separating the top four clubs. Letham Angus currently lead the way, but with such fine margins throughout the division, Round 3 could dramatically reshape the standings ahead of the final round of fixtures in October.

With league titles, promotion hopes and valuable points at stake across all three divisions, another exciting day of walking football awaits in Dundee.

We wish all clubs, players, referees and volunteers the very best for next Sunday's fixtures and look forward to another fantastic day of football at RPC Dundee. ⚽👏

WFS O50's Men's West of Scotland Leagues

The WFS Men’s O50’s West of Scotland Leagues return on Sunday 9th August at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, as clubs reconvene following the summer break to begin the second half of the 2026 competitive season.

In the Premiership, Saint Anthony's – Greens sit at the top of the table at the halfway stage. However, with just one point separating them from Carrick WFC, the title race remains wide open.

The Championship is proving to be one of the closest divisions in the country, with only two points separating the top three teams. Something will have to give in Round 3 as Motherwell Phoenix, currently second, face both league leaders WEBATA and third-placed Duncanrig EK in a crucial set of fixtures.

Meanwhile, the Conference League resumes with a mouth-watering top-of-the-table clash as Alloa Athletic take on Morton FC. Alloa will be aiming to extend their advantage, with the current gap between the two sides standing at four points.

With league positions, promotion hopes and valuable points on the line across all three divisions, the second half of the season promises plenty of exciting and competitive walking football.

We wish all clubs, players, referees and volunteers the very best for next Sunday's fixtures and look forward to another fantastic day of football at Ravenscraig. ⚽👏

WFS O70's Men's West Premiership

The WFS Men’s O70’s West Premiership returns next Friday as teams reconvene after the summer break to begin the second half of the 2026 competitive season.

At the halfway stage, last season’s champions Duncanrig EK continue to lead the way, remaining unbeaten so far this campaign. However, with just two points separating them from Carrick WFC in second place, the title race is far from over.

With plenty of important fixtures still to come, the second half of the season promises more exciting and competitive walking football as teams battle for league honours.

We wish all teams and players the very best as the action resumes and look forward to another fantastic day of football. ⚽👏

  • to enable our health partners to discuss their services throughout the day and help identify specific resources that could contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of themselves or others they care for. In particular we would encourage pre-booking of both

  • To offer Health Checks by both Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative and CHSS for both participants and others in the wider local community

  • to reduce the long-term burden on the NHS by enabling people to improve their own health and wellbeing.

  • to raise awareness of the health benefits of walking football, i.e. attract new people to come along, participate for an hour or so and hopefully be encouraged to attend walking football sessions at times and locations that suit them best.

  • to raise funds for our nominated charities on the day through fees to participate and donations in the lead up to and during the day.

Attention then turned to the women's competitions on Sunday, where the Women's Over 40s title was claimed by Tay City Strollers, while Braehead FC emerged victorious in the Women's Over 50s event following another highly competitive tournament.

Congratulations to all three champions and thank you to everyone who helped make the events such a tremendous success. We now look forward to the remaining Glasgow Cup competitions as another exciting summer of walking football continues. 👏⚽🏆💙

Congratulations to everyone featured in this latest Club News round-up. Your dedication, enthusiasm and willingness to support your communities continue to showcase walking football at its very best.

Thank you to every player, volunteer, coach, organiser and supporter for everything you do. We look forward to sharing even more stories of success, friendship and inspiration from clubs across Scotland in the weeks ahead. 👏⚽💙
