‘𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝑺𝒄𝒐𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅.’

Arthur Duncan was a long-standing supporter and contributor to Walking Football in Scotland and a passionate advocate for the social side of the game and the sense of community it brings to players across the country. Arthur was also a talented designer who, alongside former Chair Gary McLaughlin, created the Walking Football Scotland logo before later assigning the copyright to WFS.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the game, Walking Football Scotland launched the Arthur Duncan Award in 2022 to honour individuals who have made an exceptional impact on walking football within their local communities and across Scotland.

Prior to our Scottish Cup tomorrow, Walking Football Scotland is therefore delighted to announce that the joint winners of the 2025 Arthur Duncan Award for Outstanding Contribution to Walking Football in Scotland are 𝗗𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗛𝗔𝗡 and 𝗝𝗘𝗡𝗡𝗬 𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗗.

Both David and Jenny have demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership, and passion for Walking Football Scotland throughout the past year, continually going above and beyond in support of the game and its participants.

Together, they have dedicated countless voluntary hours visiting clubs throughout their region to support, encourage, and help develop local walking football communities. Their willingness to travel the length and breadth of the country — sometimes using public transport — highlights their selfless commitment to ensuring that opportunities are available for everyone, regardless of geography. This dedication was particularly evident when they travelled to Ross County to support and help deliver the North Region Festival, ensuring players in the area enjoyed the same opportunities and experiences as those elsewhere in Scotland.

David and Jenny also voluntarily coordinated the East League in Dundee, playing a key role in its continued success and smooth operation. In addition, they provide invaluable support at the Oriam leagues across multiple age groups, where their professionalism, enthusiasm, and welcoming approach are greatly appreciated by players and organisers alike.

Their contribution extends far beyond regional responsibilities. Both are central figures within Linlithgow Rose CFC, where they have led and supported the club’s walking football teams with tremendous pride and dedication. David, a former club Chairman, has also taken on further volunteer responsibilities as Regional League Coordinator for the East of Scotland, while also overseeing the Women’s National Leagues.

In addition, David has played a hugely important role in leading the North East Regional Women’s Teams, helping to grow and promote the women’s game within the walking football community. Players have spoken passionately about the positive impact that both David and Jenny have had through their involvement, with their leadership helping to break down barriers, build confidence, and create lasting friendships between players and clubs across Scotland.

David and Jenny embody everything that Walking Football Scotland stands for — inclusivity, community spirit, commitment, respect, and opportunity for all. Their tireless efforts, unwavering support for others, and willingness to always go the extra mile make them true ambassadors for the sport.

Joint recognition through the Arthur Duncan Award is a fitting tribute to their outstanding service and remarkable dedication to walking football in Scotland.

Trustee Matt Ramsay was delighted to recently visit a Linlithgow Rose walking football session to present the award locally in recognition of their achievements. David and Jenny were also honoured to officially receive their award at Hampden Park from newly appointed Walking Football Scotland President, David Winnie.
