We were delighted today to be supporting author 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗹 with his latest publication, a fictional novel all about Walking Football, entitled, '𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨'.
Trustees Brian Sloan and Matt Ramsay attended the event as they heard from Stuart, 73, who plays in goal for 𝘿𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙡 𝙐𝙩𝙙, describing how five social misfits from Glasgow form a team, behave badly, rage against the dying of the light and and embark on a life changing adventure. The book is a labour of love.

The 𝗪𝗙𝗦 𝗢𝟱𝟬'𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 resumed today at Toryglen Regional Football Centre for round 2 with Braehead and Falkirk Foundation leading their respective divisions respectively.
This remains the case in the Premiership with Braehead still on top, however all change in the Championship with Whitletts Vics leading the way still undefeated.

We recently shared that one of the players from 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗹 𝗨𝘁𝗱, writer Stuart Campbell has recently had his walking football novel published by Rymour Books, entitled '𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙚 𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨'.
Stuart has been invited on to tomorrow’s BBC Radio Scotland show '𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹' with Tam Cowan and Stuart Cosgrove where he will be sharing his walking football experiences as well as promoting his book, so make sure you tune in tomorrow.
The official launch of the book is next Thursday 25th May at Toryglen Regional Football Centre (12.30-2.30pm) and anyone is more than welcome to attend.

As our annual 𝗪𝗙𝗦 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝘂𝗽 & 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 draws ever closer, we would like to share all the teams that will be taking part this year.
79 teams with just under 800 players will take part in what will be the biggest 1 day walking football event in the world, sponsored by 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 & 𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚 𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙.
We are delighted to be hosting the draw once again at our National Stadium, Hampden Park where we will be joined with our sponsors in the Scottish Football Museum, Hall of Fame on Tuesday 6th June.

There will be a draw for the Over 50’s & Over 60’s categories as well as the Women’s Over 40’s Scottish Cup.
The Over 65’s & Over 70’s categories will be carried out as a mini-league with top team winning the trophy.
Our non-competitive festival has 12 teams in total and will see each team play 5 games with a team becoming this year’s winner of the Peter Collins Fair Play Award.

The draw has been made that will see 4 of our affiliated clubs attend the 𝗘𝗙𝗗𝗡 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 on Wednesday 31st May.
Greenock Morton FC CT, Motherwell FC CT and Rangers Charity Foundation, who’s club’s charity arms are affiliated with EFDN will be taking part as well as Glasgow Life who will represent ourselves after qualifying as last year’s WFS Over 60’s Champions League winners.
Our teams will take part against European opposition and WFS President Kenny McLean and trustee Matt Ramsay will be there to support our teams.
Its was a return to the East of Scotland today as the 𝗪𝗙𝗦 𝗢𝟱𝟬'𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 recommenced for Round 2 fixtures at RPC Dundee.
Arbroath remain top of the Premiership after another impressive display occupying the top spot with Hearts and Linlithgow being the big climbers from the bottom half to 2nd and 3rd respectively.
In the Championship, Dundee Utd CT remain unbeaten after a draw with Raith Rovers and we thank all clubs for a good afternoon of walking football today.
Its a return to the East of Scotland this weekend but slightly further afield as the 𝗪𝗙𝗦 𝗢𝟱𝟬'𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 recommence for Round 2 fixtures at RPC Dundee.
It is all very tight in the Premiership with Arbroath currently occupying the top position whereas in the Championship, Dundee Utd CT will be looking to build on their impressive start with 4 wins out of 4 from Round 1.

Today saw the recommencement of the National 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟲𝟱'𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 at Oriam National Performance Centre, Edinburgh.
Alloa Athletic commenced the day top and after 3 wins and a draw, remain top with special congratulations to Pollok Utd picking up 12 points with 4 wins.
A terrific day of walking football in the capital and well done to all teams and participants.

We are back with league action tomorrow with the return of the National Over 65’s League, taking place this time at Oriam National Performance Centre, Edinburgh.

We are delighted to share that this year's WFS Scottish Cup & Festival is now full and we are unable to take any more entries.
81 teams will take part split over the various categories for the event sponsored by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
More details on the day itself will be shared in the coming weeks as well as the date for the draw for the Scottish Cup categories.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of 2 trustees, with 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗻 and 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸 joining the Walking Football Scotland board.
WFS President Kenny McLean said: “Brian has a lengthy history with WFS through our partnership with Age Scotland when he was CEO. It was always our hope that we could co-opt him onto the board at some point and we are so happy that we were successful in doing so.
Jacky is someone who has the same passion for walking football as all the trustees. He is pivotal to one of the great success stories of walking football with his work at Giffnock. He brings a plethora of experience to the board which I know will benefit WFS for the future.”
On becoming a trustee, Brian responded: Quite a few years ago, whilst CEO for Age Scotland I was instrumental in coordinating a consortium of partners with a single focus on developing walking football across Scotland. It is heart-warming to see how it has developed over the years with the amount of older people regularly playing every week and the fact Walking Football Scotland is a standalone charity. Being physically, socially and mentally engaged is paramount to our health therefore the benefits of walking football and its subsequent contribution to the health of Scotland’s older people should never be underestimated. I am passionate about sports and supporting older people so, as well as now working for Sporting Memories, I am absolutely delighted to join Walking Football Scotland as a trustee to support its continued success.
Martin shared: “Like many Walking Footballers, I’ve played for, coached and managed teams for a few decades. When first asked to play Walking Football, I probably gave a familiar response. Walking Football? You have to be joking!
A couple of years later Giffnock SC asked me to start a Walking Football section and, after the first session, I knew my initial answer had been way, way off the mark.
The past two years have shown that it has kept me and many others fitter, physically and mentally than we could have expected for our age, it highlights the friendly banter that exists within football teams and the competitive edge that we all experienced growing up has been re-ignited, albeit at a slower pace……well sometimes!
I’m involved in the organisation of our weekly Sunday sessions with high and low intensity games and a ladies only group. We regularly have 40+ people playing and they all genuinely have a ball.
Why do I do this and am delighted to have been asked to become a Walking Football Scotland Trustee?
While still holding down a day job, Walking Football has given me the chance to relax and have a bit of fun at the same time. I’ve seen the difference Walking Football can make to people of a certain vintage and I want to use what time and effort I have to help grow the sport across the country.”

Today saw the recommencement of the 𝗪𝗙𝗦 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟰𝟬'𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 as we headed to Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Wishaw, for the next round of matches.
It was another great day of women’s walking football and Linlithgow Rose CFC – Whites are now top of the league closely followed by Jeanfield Swifts – Black and Braehead – Navy.
Well done to all teams today and we look forward to welcoming you all back after the summer on 3rd September.
