Scottish FA Appellate Tribunal Dismisses Braehead FC Appeal
/Walking Football Scotland (WFS) is committed to ensuring that all competitions are delivered fairly, consistently and with the highest standards of sporting integrity.
WFS can confirm that the Scottish FA Appellate Tribunal on Friday 30th October dismissed Braehead FC's appeal in full, upholding the sanctions imposed by the Re-Hearing, Independent Disciplinary Panel on 17 September 2026.
The case concerned four players who participated in the WFS SWF Over 40s Women's Premiership and Championship League fixtures on Sunday 31 May 2026 without the necessary registrations having been fully completed and approved by WFS.
Following an earlier appeal to the Scottish FA, the matter was remitted for a fresh hearing before an Independent Disciplinary Panel on 17 September 2026. That Panel found all four eligibility allegations established and imposed the sanctions subsequently upheld by the Scottish FA Appellate Tribunal on 30 October 2026.
Sanctions Confirmed
Match results: Each of the four affected fixtures is recorded as a 2–0 victory for the opposing team, with three competition points awarded.
League standings: The affected league tables and competition records have now been updated to reflect the final determination.
Financial sanction: An £80 fine was imposed, with the full amount suspended.
Following Braehead FC's appeal, the Scottish FA Appellate Tribunal met on Friday 30 October 2026 and confirmed:
“Appeal Dismissed. The original sanctions are re-imposed with immediate effect.”
The Tribunal also confirmed that the club's appeal deposit has been forfeited.
WFS reminds all Member Clubs that player registrations must be submitted at least 24 hours before league fixtures commence and must receive approval before a player is eligible to participate. Submission alone does not constitute approval.
We thank all Member Clubs for their continued cooperation in maintaining the fairness, standards and integrity of walking football competitions across Scotland.
