From fundraising and community engagement to milestone celebrations and life-changing health programmes, these latest stories highlight the positive impact walking football is having on individuals, clubs and communities throughout the country.
Whether it’s raising vital funds for charity, celebrating important anniversaries, bringing people together through football-themed events, or supporting those living with long-term health conditions, the walking football family continues to go above and beyond.
Rossvale Ladies Combine Football, Fun and Fundraising 💙
The Rossvale Ladies Walking Football Team recently swapped their usual training kit for a colourful collection of international jerseys as they held a special “Mufti Day” at training.
Instead of wearing club kit, players arrived sporting a variety of World Cup shirts, making for a vibrant and fun evening both on and off the pitch. The initiative formed part of the club’s latest fundraising efforts, with donations going towards the purchase of a potentially life-saving defibrillator.
The evening was a fantastic success, bringing together football, friendship, socialising and fundraising in equal measure, while highlighting the strong community spirit that exists within the group.
Well done to all the ladies for supporting such an important cause and continuing to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch. 👏⚽💙
Townhead Strollers Enjoy World Cup-Themed Session ⚽
There was a real tournament atmosphere at Townhead Strollers Walking Football Club recently as players embraced a special Scotland and World Cup-themed session.
Scotland shirts, bunnets and flags were on display throughout the morning, helping create a fantastic occasion filled with fun, football and plenty of national pride.
The highlight of the day came at half-time when players joined together for a passionate rendition of Flower of Scotland, creating a memorable moment that perfectly captured the spirit and camaraderie within the group.
Sessions like these show that walking football is about far more than the action on the pitch — it’s about friendship, community and creating lasting memories together.

Scone Host Successful World Cup Walking Football Festival 🏴⚽
Scone Walking Football Club were delighted to host a fantastic World Cup Walking Football Festival, bringing together players from across the country for a day that truly embodied the spirit of the game.
Delivered in partnership with Saints in the Community and proudly supported by Walking Football Scotland and the Perth & Kinross Council World Cup Fund, the event welcomed around 50 players from across Scotland, all competing in the right spirit of walking football.
While there was plenty of excellent football on display, the biggest success came away from the pitch. Thanks to the incredible generosity of players, supporters and partners, an outstanding £700 was raised for our charity partners, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who took part, donated and helped make the festival such a memorable occasion. It was another wonderful example of walking football bringing people together, creating friendships and making a positive difference in the community. 👏⚽💙🏴
Rossvale Women Celebrate 50th Anniversary in Style 🎉⚽
There was a fantastic atmosphere at Southbank as Rossvale Women’s Walking Football Club celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a special Over 50s men’s and women’s tournament.
The event brought together players from across the walking football community including new women’s team, Albion Rovers, for a day filled with football, friendship and celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new memories and reflect on the many relationships that have been built through the game over the years.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended and contributed to making the occasion such a success. The tournament was a fitting way to mark a significant milestone and showcased everything that is great about walking football — camaraderie, inclusivity and community spirit.
Dundee FC Community Trust’s Parkinson’s Walking Football Group Continues to Inspire 💙⚽
There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Dundee FC Community Trust Parkinson’s Walking Football session recently as the group welcomed a host of special guests to see first-hand the positive impact the programme is having on people living with Parkinson’s.
The session was attended by Head of Dundee City Council, Mark Flynn, and Councillor Lynne Short, who took time out of their schedules to meet participants and witness the incredible support network that has developed around the group.
The club were also delighted to welcome representatives from Kilmac Limited, Northwood Charitable Trust, NHS Tayside, and Parkinson’s UK, all of whom have played an important role in supporting the programme and helping it grow. Their continued commitment has enabled more people living with Parkinson’s to access regular exercise, friendship and support through walking football.
Special thanks were also paid to the staff at the Change Centre Dundee, whose ongoing support and hospitality have helped create a welcoming environment for participants each week.
While the visitors were greatly appreciated, the real stars of the day were the players themselves. Their enthusiasm, positivity and encouragement for one another continue to make the group such a special place to be, demonstrating the power of walking football to improve both physical and mental wellbeing.
The sessions remain open to men and women living with Parkinson’s, providing an opportunity to enjoy exercise, friendship, laughter and support in a welcoming environment.

Tayport Lift Dunfermline UKMC Trophy 🏆⚽
Congratulations to Tayport Walking Football Club, who emerged victorious at the Dunfermline UKMC Trophy held at Pitreavie Soccer Centre.
The tournament brought together 12 teams for a fantastic day of competitive football, friendship and camaraderie, with Tayport producing a series of strong performances to lift the trophy at the end of an enjoyable day’s action.
A huge thank you goes to Dunfermline Dynamos for organising and delivering another superbly run event, as well as to all the clubs who took part and contributed to the excellent atmosphere throughout the tournament.
Well done to Tayport on their success and to everyone involved in making it such a great day for walking football. 👏🏆⚽
