Walking Football Women’s Team of the Year - Shortlist Announced!
/🏆⚽ FOUR WFS CLUBS SHORTLISTED FOR NATIONAL AWARD! 👏💙
Walking Football Scotland is absolutely delighted to celebrate four of our member clubs being named among The Sunday Post's shortlisted nominees for Women’s Walking Football Team of the Year at the 2026 ScottishPower Women’s Football Awards!
A huge congratulations to:
🔴 Giffnock SC
⚫ Jeanfield Swifts
🔵 Midlothian Ladies
🟠 Oriam Ladies
This is fantastic recognition for all four clubs and another proud moment for the continued growth and development of women's walking football across Scotland.
💜 MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL!
What makes this award particularly special is that it recognises so much more than success on the pitch.
The judging criteria celebrate teams that demonstrate outstanding teamwork, togetherness and a positive team culture, while creating welcoming, inclusive and supportive environments for women of all ages, abilities and footballing backgrounds.
The award also recognises clubs that encourage new and returning players, grow participation, demonstrate excellent sportsmanship and support the physical, mental and social wellbeing of their members.
Just as importantly, it celebrates teams making a positive difference within their communities, supporting their players and volunteers, and helping to raise the profile of women's walking football across Scotland.
While competitive achievements can be recognised, results alone do not determine the winner. The award celebrates the team whose culture, togetherness, achievements and wider contribution make them an outstanding example of women's walking football.
These principles reflect the very heart of Walking Football Scotland and Scottish Women's Football, and it is wonderful to see four of our clubs recognised against these values.
